Celebrating our 30 year long cooperation with the Finnish company Lappset, a highly successful seminar titled "The Playground of Tomorrow: Sustainability, Inclusivity, Safety" was held on the 1st of June, under the auspices of the Finnish Embassy, bringing together experts, stakeholders, and enthusiasts from various fields. The event took place at the prestigious Ecali Club in Athens and showcased groundbreaking ideas and best practices for designing, developing, and managing playgrounds with a focus on sustainability, inclusivity, and safety.
At the Ecali Club we began in 1993 the journey of Lappset in Greece by installing our first playground that was fully operative until its renewal in 2021 with a new playground from the Flora line.
During the seminar, innovative concepts and valuable insights were presented regarding the planning and operation of playgrounds. Renowned speakers and specialists shared the latest developments in the field, exchanged practical experiences, and engaged in stimulating discussions.
The Ambassador of Finland in Greece, Jari Gustafsson gave the salutation, the Chairman of BoD of LAPPSET Johanna Ikaheimo showcased the vision of her company and the CEO of INTEC A.E. (sole representative of LAPPSET in Greece) Ifigeneia Tzavellas alongside her son Constantine Tsirikos spoke about their 30 year long presence in the industry, the projects conducted during those years, their services as well as their vision for the future.
Later on, the esteemed Landscape Architects Klea Volovini & Elina Katsika as well as the experienced Engineer - inspector of TUV Nord Maria- Chara Belechri, analyzed thoroughly the challenges on playground construction based on sustainability, inclusivity and safety. The respectable professor Aggeliki Paraskevopoulou presented scientific evidence on the sustainability of playground parks.
Janita Rousu, representing LAPPSET Finland showed references from all over the world as well as solutions proposed to all current issues faced when building a playground. Venetia Mataliotaki & Christina Psarra - Leridou, Landscape Architects representing LAPPSET Greece, presented projects both in the private and public sector to depict the way LAPPSET Greece operates.
Lastly, Simone Ryser & Erifyli Benakopoulou talked about a real time case study, LAPPSET Greece’s newest project: an impressive themed park in the municipal gardens Limassol.
The seminar attracted a diverse audience including architects, urban designers, policymakers and educators. More specifically, representatives from the companies Betaplan, Avax, Ellaktor, Green Fund, Bodossaki Foundation, Theotokos Foundation as well as representatives from various municipalities. Participants had the opportunity to stay informed about the latest trends and research findings in the field, collaborate, and network with fellow professionals.
"The Playground of Tomorrow: Sustainability, Inclusivity, Safety" seminar proved to be a valuable platform for all participants to enhance their knowledge and understanding of playground design and operation.
